White backdrops are without a doubt, the most commonly used backdrop color in photography. White is classic, timeless, and can be used in many photo settings, and work extremely well with colored gels to produce infinite color options. Most often however, white backdrops are used to achieve a clean, pure, elegant or even optimistic feeling, giving subjects a sense of graceful innocence. Since white backdrops also serve to isolate, or highlight the subject, they are also very popular for use in product photography as well as portraits.
